Mike Farruggio

Mike trained as a carpenter before serving over 30 years in the military and law enforcement, where he maintained and refined his trade skills throughout his career.

After retiring from public service, Mike founded HandyMike to meet the growing demand for high-quality handyman and maintenance services in the Charlottesville area. Built on the principles of being Skilled. Reliable. Trustworthy., HandyMike earned a reputation for professionalism and consistent workmanship.

As project scopes grew into full remodels and structural additions, Genesis Contracting was established to deliver full-service remodeling, additions, and professional project management.

Recognizing the need for a dedicated electrical contractor operating under proper licensure, Mike established Piedmont Electrical Service as a licensed, bonded, and insured electrical company serving Central Virginia.

Piedmont Electrical Service is dedicated exclusively to residential and light commercial electrical work.

Our Electrical Team

Andrew “Andy” Thomas

Licensed Master Electrician

Andy Thomas is a licensed Master Electrician with over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial electrical systems. He leads all electrical operations for Piedmont Electrical Service, overseeing estimating, project execution, and inspections to ensure every installation meets current code requirements, safety standards, and professional best practices.

Andy serves as the responsible license holder for the company and maintains direct oversight of all electrical work performed.

In addition to his electrical career, Andy has served for many years as a volunteer firefighter in our community, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to public service and safety.

All electrical work is performed under his direct supervision.

Trystan Montez

Electrical Apprentice

Trystan is an Electrical Apprentice with over five years of experience in carpentry, roofing, tile work, and residential maintenance. His construction background strengthens jobsite coordination as he advances through formal electrical training under the licensed supervision of Andy Thomas.

Jake Farruggio

Electrical Apprentice

Jake is an Electrical Apprentice with over six years of experience as a maintenance technician, including carpentry, tile work, and electrical systems support. He continues to develop his electrical expertise while progressing through formal apprenticeship training under the licensed supervision of Andy Thomas.
